Seventeen years ago, Lofans in the United States of America made a clarion call. The cardinal reasons for the call were to lay a concrete foundation for unity and cooperation, solidify fraternal relationships, and develop agendas that would improve the lives of Lofans in the United States and Liberia. The revered nature of Lofans to work in harmony with all individuals irrespective of ethnic, cultural, social, economic, and educational background was also an important reason for the call. The Federation of Lofa Associations in the Americas was conceptualized and established out of the necessities inherent in these reasons.
Today, the reasons for the formation of the Federation of Lofa Associations in the Americas resonate everywhere Lofans reside in the United States. They have also been wholeheartedly embraced by Lofans at home and well- meaning Liberians everywhere. Many of you have traveled long distances and incurred enormous costs to be here. Your presence at Convention 2008 proves your love for Lofa County. It clearly demonstrates your desire and readiness to work for the improvement of the lives of your people, and the reconstruction and development of our war ravaged county, Lofa and our country, Liberia.
The leadership of the Federation is much honored and pleased to welcome you at Convention 2008 in the twin cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. We are very highly impressed by the tremendous sacrifices you have made thus far, and we look forward to your active participations in the deliberations ahead. We encourage you to attend Convention 2008 with open mind, absolute sense of purpose, and genuine desire for progress in attaining the lofty goals we have set for ourselves and our people.
