About
Lofa and FLAA
Lofa
County
is one of the fifteen political sub-divisions of the Republic
of
Liberia, and is situated at the
north-western part of
Liberia. It is bounded on the east and north by Guinea,
west by Sierra Leone, on the south by Gbarpolu
County
and Bong County.
The County was established in 1964 by an Act of Legislature/Executive
Order.
The
Federation of Lofa Associations in the
Americas (FLAA) is a
nationwide 501(c)(3) Liberian organization in the U.S. Its membership
comes originally from the largest county in Liberia located in the
northwest of the country. FLAA was founded on May 24, 1991, at a
Detroit Conference, to strengthen Lofa communities and cultural
identities in the U.S., and to reach out to the populations left behind
in the villages and towns of that great county.

FLAA
Educational Initiative
Chairman Jusu Hena
and FLAA
are asking for your help in collecting educational materials for export
to Lofa County, Liberia. Thus far, FLAA has collected a
significant amount of books, computers and other materials for this
initiative. We require ongoing assistance in the collection and
transport of these materials to our warehouse and future assistance
will be needed to package and ship the items.
On December 24, 2008, FLAA sent a shipping container full of
educational materials, computers and furniture to Lofa County as part
of the Educational Initiative. Click on the link above to
view photos of the collection and preparation of these materials for
shimpent to Liberia.
